The Federal Scholarship Program (Deutschlandstipendium) provides €300 monthly for new and ongoing students who promise to be high achievers at university and in their later profession. UW participates in this program, and new as well as ongoing students may apply.
Applications can be made for winter semester 2011-2012 onward. Good grades (e.g. in the Abitur – high school leaving exam) and, for ongoing students, in the relevant degree program are an important selection criterion, as is readiness to take on social responsibilities, or the successful mastering of obstacles in one’s personal life and education (e.g. personal or family circumstances such as illness or disability, care for one’s children or for close relatives, work in a family business, wage-earning work as a student, family origins, or a family history of migration).
The Federal Scholarship Program (Deutschlandstipendium) is funded 50% from federal and 50% from private sources. Companies, foundations and private individuals can in this way demonstrate their social commitment and willingness to help promising students realize their potential and thereby support tomorrow’s generation of specialists and leaders.
