Information on the application procedure

Applications are open to students of the Bergische Universität or first-year students who will begin their studies at the Bergische Universität in the winter semester of the year of application.

The funding period is two semesters and can be extended in the case of good performance. The maximum funding period depends on the standard period of study of the respective degree programme. The scholarship application for the respective scholarship year (from October to September) must be submitted in our online tool during the application period between June and the end of August.

In our current flyer you will find further helpful information especially on the procedure of the Deutschlandstipendium at Bergische Universität Wuppertal! (Only available in German)

Incomplete applications will not be considered!

Good grades do play a role in the selection of scholarship holders, but don't be afraid to apply with a two before the decimal point! In our uncomplicated online application process, the letter of motivation is also important, in which social commitment and special CVs can take centre stage.

The application is designed to save you as much effort as possible. You can complete the application within one day without any problems - if you want to. The application process can easily be paused and continued at a later date. You will need the following documents for your application:

A letter of motivation (max. 1 DIN A4 page) in which you can explain why you are applying for a scholarship and why Bergische Universität should support you.
Curriculum vitae (in tabular form).
Extract from the credit points account (only applies to applicants who are already in their 2nd university semester or higher in the coming winter semester).
Certificate of enrolment for the following winter semester*.
Certificate of higher education entrance qualification.
If applicable:

Training certificate.
Employment references.
Internship certificates.
The recipient of your application is the Prorector for Studies and Teaching.

* If you do not yet have your matriculation certificate for the coming semester, you can save your application and send it later within the deadline. If you do not have your certificate of enrolment by the end of the application period, you can still send your application by the deadline and submit the certificate later in consultation with us. In any case, please wait until the end of August and, if possible, only send fully completed applications!

Below you will find our award guidelines, the scholarship law and the current BMBF information on double funding.
