The Deutschlandstipendium is a complete success at Bergische Universität thanks to the valuable supporters from the region. Already at the beginning of the nationwide programme in 2011, 67 students could be sponsored thanks to the extensive support of 27 companies and foundations - figures that could be continuously increased over the last decade. By the current funding year, the number of scholarship holders has almost tripled (to 187), while almost twice as many sponsors (50) are part of our dynamic network. The development in the years from 2020 onwards, which are challenging in many respects, is particularly remarkable: despite the pandemic that kept us all on our toes every day, the volume of funding continued to increase at an already high level. The important personal contact between students, donors and the university could also be supplemented by high-quality digital workshops in times of social distancing. The University would like to thank all those involved for ensuring that the promotion of young talent in the Bergisches Land region can continue to be expanded even in difficult times!
